Set in the Tamar Valley, within a World Heritage Site and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Rumleigh Farm sits on the River Bank offering you the best of all worlds - minutes from the wilds of Dartmoor, yet snuggled into a secluded nature rich valley, complete with its own micro climate! Both coasts are under and hour away and the closest Town - Tavistock - is a delightful award winning market town, with a wonderful Pannier Market.
Although no longer a working farm, Rumleigh has 30 acres for you to stroll through and explore, including a stunning summer house right on the river bank. Our buttercup filled fields have South Devon Cows on (our neighbours) and are fenced to allow you to walk around without the need to face-off the animals! All the views surrounding are now agricultural, but the Heritage of Mining is also evident, leading to the view sometimes people call Mordor!!!
Everyone comments on the piece and quiet but on the rare occasion traffic passes, it is almost guaranteed to be a tractor. The birds however can produce an unbelievable sound - which is a joy to wake up to.
Our Bed and Breakfast accommodation is accessed via its own entrance, and is situated adjoining the Farmhouse, in a converted barn called Yellowhammer. After a good night's sleep, in our frequently commented upon comfortable beds, start the day with our locally sourced breakfast, including our own eggs form our free range chickens, before heading off to take in the region's many and varied attractions.
Coming back to Yellowhammer for the evening you have all our splendid walks available to you, a spacious and relaxing lounge, a barn with table tennis and if you just want a snack we offer some delicious in season ones, but we do need some prior notice.
Unfortunately, because of the age and layout of the Barn we are unable to provide access for wheelchairs in Yellowhammer, (although we do in Dragonfly) and would recommend that if you are at all concerned about access it would be best to call us in advance.
Our aim is that you should feel relaxed, comfortable and well looked after, in our informal yet stylish surroundings. We have achieved the Green Acorn Award for our contribution to sustainable tourism and we strive to build an eco-friendly business as possible. Parts of Rumleigh date back to 1298 so some things are just not practical!
If you are looking for a relaxed place with wonderful views and easy access to the region come and stay with us at Rumleigh.
Annie and Keith Miller look forward to welcoming you to Yellowhammer at Rumleigh Farm.
Eating at night
Although all around us are really good places to eat - sometimes you just want to stay in..so, we also offer evening snacks to guests if they want. We will give some choice but it's very much the "what we eat you eat" approach. Hopefully if the weather is good that can be outside on the patio watching the sun go down, the swallows going to bed and the bats coming out! It will be informal, friendly and relaxed.
Please check with us if you would like to eat as it will not be on every day of the week!
Special short breaks
We want you to really enjoy being part of the rural life so that may mean, if you book one of our special short breaks, a trip in the boat down to the pub, an evening watching the stars twinkle sipping wine, or a game of backgammon with the boys. Nothing but a relaxed, good fun approach. Nothing glitzy, or over the top - more like friends popping over to see us.
