You will find us in our own valley facing the river Tamar, at the end of a single track, banked with high hedges, filled with wild flowers and bird song. You will park your cars hidden from view, in the work sheds car park and stroll down to the old Barn with its own special entrance dug deep into the hill - hobbit style!
You will notice the water roof - a unique flat roof that is a floating pond, put there to encourage birds and butterflies to drink while you laze on the bank and watch. It’s here we float candles that bob about all night lighting the sky. You see the small intimate courtyard with its fire pit and head into Apple Barn - By day a space that’s full of interesting nooks and crannies and by night comes alive with its own light and sound show. The licensed bar, tucked under the loft faux log pile will make you smile. It’s quirky yes - but punches above it’s weight with Tribute Award winning Ale and Thatchers Cider on tap amongst others (and if you want a particular brew just ask) all at reasonable pub prices.
The doors to the main courtyard may be open leading to a striped medieval style, round marquee, that lets 70 people sit in comfort to eat and be merry, or, it may just be where the kids play on a bouncy castle and you walk around to the garden and a marquee that lets you seat up to 300. Either way, once you have wined and dined it’s party time and that is back in the barn. With a band of your choosing and supported by our in house DJs this is moody, intimate and visually wild.
If it’s all too much your guests can be outside round the fire, or chilling in attached Swallow Barn, so named because all summer, up close, you watch our beautiful swallows tirelessly feed their young - wonderful. Want to really get away for a while - then stroll 300 yards to the river, sit in the summer house and watch the sun go down or maybe even come up who cares as long as your are having the time of your life.
Late into the night the main couple can sneak off to Dragonfly..our wonderful, self contained, cottage for two. It’s romantic, quiet and really, really, nice. The main family can go to bed whenever they are ready in Yellowhammer Barn, our three bed B&B, attached to the main Farmhouse, but completely self contained - after all the kids might have crashed by now! Other guests stroll back to their tents, or if that’s not their thing, jump into a taxis and head for local hotels (you can find railway carriages, camping pods, and luxury hotel rooms all under 15 minutes drive).
Next morning you could see a breakfast of warm croissants with local jams and hot coffee waiting or lashings of tea and a full english made with our own eggs and our neighbours bacon...either way your pictures will be stunning and your memories forever.
